Had an interesting day, yesterday. I know that we all have buttons that can be pushed and mine is respect. I don’t want to be the king or emperor or anything like that. I don’t want students bowing down to my greatness. I would mostly like us to treat each other with respect and dignity and have me do the best that I can teaching and have them do the best that they can learning. However, I ha

I thought that the season of long days and short nights was supposed to be Summer. I am learning that for teachers, it is the Winter. I had my last New Teacher Network meeting last night. It was a very good meeting. We had a couple of students come in and talk with us about what they like and don’t like about school and teachers. They were some very self-aware kids and did a very good job o

OK, didn’t get everything finished, but I am getting caught up a bit. I worked on my research project for six more hours this weekend and got the presentation about ESL education finished. When I finally get the entire paper finished I’ll post it on this site. All I have left is to get a pamphlet that summarizes the information done and then write the discussion chapter of my project. In the e

OK, it was a hell week. Here’s how the week went:Monday evening was a long one as I had choir (I sing in Rocky Mountain Chorale and am currently the president of that group). I got home after 10:00 pm and got to bed around midnight. Tuesday I got up at the normal 4:45 am and got ready for school. I was driving and left the house a little before 6:00 am so that we can get to school before 7:

Today we handed out progress reports. This is going to be a kind of ‘hell week’. I worked until about midnight last night (Sunday night) getting quizzes graded and scores entered into Infinite Campus so that I’d be ready for doing progress reports today. Then, when I got to school, I remembered (actually the computer reminded me) that I had a parent meeting set up for this morning at 7:15 am.
