We stopped at a Today, Sunday, we left Charlotte about 12:30 and drove north on I-77 into Virginia. We stopped at a visitors center just before we got on I-81 to go north. We stopped to see the Salem Avalanche field (Astros’ Class A team in the Carolina League). No game today, they’re out of town until later this week. But we got a few pictures of the stadium. Being Sunday, there was no one around to let us in, so the pictures don’t say much, but it’s similar to the style of fields in Round Rock and Corpus Christi, just not as big. We caught a quick snack and some gas, and got on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We stopped at a lodge at Peaks of Otter, a beautiful lodge on a lake nestled in a hollow between some hills, and decided to stay the night. It’s pretty rustic: no TVs in rooms, no phones, no cellular service, and what’s worst, no internet service. But I’m preparing this on my laptop and I’ll find a place to upload it tomorrow.
