<itunes:summary>Managing our health care needs would surely be easier if we could only see the future. Unfortunately, we cannot see what the future holds for us. All we can do is try to eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly and see our doctors for regular examinations. The earlier we can identify problems, the better we can correct or prevent them from becoming serious ones. Remember, prevention begins when we are young and not when we reach “middle age.” Whether it’s wearing UV contact lenses, sunscreen and sunglasses when we are outdoors, or taking supplements to increase our antioxidant levels, or having an annual eye exam, let’s just do it. We may not be able to see the future, but let’s make sure that we will be able to see in the future.</itunes:summary>

Before you rush off to buy whatever solution is on sale this week, you may want to consult with your eye doctor. A recent study by Dr. Gary Andrasko revealed that certain lens and solution combinations are more irritating to your eyes than others. These irritations contribute to more serious contact lens related red eyes.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>As the baby boom population ages, one of the more common conditions that affects their vision is cataracts. A cataract occurs naturally and is part of the normal aging process of the eye's lens. Just like getting white hair as you get older, if you grow old enough, you will get cataracts. There are many different forms of cataracts, some caused by injury to the eye, some caused by medications that you take, but the most common forms occur as a result of aging. Age related cataracts occur slowly and progress over years. They cause a gradual clouding of your vision like looking through smoke and can eventually lead to blurred vision that cannot be made clearer with glasses or contact lenses.</itunes:summary>
